Will be cheerfully paid in lawful money of the United States, by the undersigned, proprietors of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, if they cannot show the original testimonials and signatures of the individuals volunteering those published below, and also of every testimonial among the thousands which they are constantly publishing attesting the superior curative properties of their several medicines, and thus proving the genuineness and reliability of all the multitude of testimonials volunteered by grateful people, in their behalf. THE REASON. There is no medicine equal to Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, for the purifying of the blood. It carries off the poisons which contaminate the life fluid. It increases the activity of the blood-making glands and gives the body an increased supply of pure, body-building blood. It builds up the body with sound, healthy flesh instead of flabby fat, promotes the appetite, feeds the nerves, and so gives to weak, nervous people vitality and vigor. There is no alcohol contained in "Golden Medical Discovery," and it is absolutely free from opium, cocaine and all other narcotics. WORLD'S DISPENSARY HEDICAL ASSOCIATION, Buffalo, N. Y.

Many busy men suffer from dyspepsia caused by careless habits, too rapid eating and irregular meals. Iyittle attention is paid to this until it is too late, and then you naturally ask yourself, "What shall I do to get well." I have found your. " Discovery " by far the most efficacious of any medicine I have known. A few doses gives relief. Being an honest medicine and well worthy of praise, it has my hearty endorsement. Yours respectfully, Hon. Leb Cohn, Councilman gth Ward.) i,ouisville, Ky.
"I have been greatly benefited through the use of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery," writes G. T. Rose, Esq., of 125 W. Short Street, Lexington, Ky. (Constable, Fayette Co.) "I suffered for years with biliousness and torpid liver, which affected the digestive organs and clogged up the entire system. Had used different medicines but found they did not help me any ; in fact, nothing that I took was of any special benefit until I tried your ' Golden Medical Discovery.' I soon found that this medicine wrought a wonderful change in my entire body ; cleared up the sluggish channels of digestive organs. This activity restored the flagging strength, increased appetite and vitalized the forces until work seemed but play, my sleep was restful and sound, brain active, and I felt like a new man. Four bottles of your ' Golden Medical Discovery ' caused this wonderful change, and I have certainly every reason in the world to feel gratified and to fully endorse your great remedy. For the past two years I have enjoyed perfect health."

Few aside from those engaged in the work know the large amount of business ability and untiring devotion to principle and an ideal that are put into the management of a state Christian Endeavor union. A glimpse of two of the largest in the country, New York and Pennsylvania, will give the reader some idea of it. The New York State Christian Endeavor union had its formal beginning in a convention held in Syracuse on Nov. 9 and 10. 1S8G, at which Rev. Dr. Howard B. Grose was chosen state president and Mr. M. A. Hudson state secretary. The records compiled in July of that year show a membership of 1,400. The last annual report of the union gave a total of 2,134 societies, with a membership of 85,G41. The state union is entirely dependent for its support upon the generosity of individual societies, for it levies no taxes and has no lues. Usually once each year it addresses a letter to each society in the state and asks for a free will offering for the carrying on of its work, and then it plans its efforts in proportion fo the responses received. Of the eighteen busy men and women who unceasingly carry on its multitude of activities not one of them receives a penny of compensation. No like organization has performed so much at so slight expense as the New York State Christian Endeavor union

EDWIN FORRE8T HAIiLEN'EECK. in recent years, and this has been made possible only by the self sacrificing spirit of the hands "at the helm." Said John R. Clements in an article in the Christian Endeavor World: "To add to the labors of a busy pastorate or. the exacting duties of a professional or business career the management of some branch of a state Christian Endeavor union cannot possibly be done w ithout some degree of self sacrifice, and yet it is just such loving d-erotion that a multitude of men and women are showing to the cause 'for Christ and the church,' and it is this spirit that has made Christian Endeavor the worldwide religious power that it is today." When the historian records the doings of the New York state union he will look back to the two terms of Rev. Edwin Forrest IIallenleek as one of great aggressiveness along new lines. In them ' the "tour of the state plan" had its birth, the Bible study, evani gelistic work and press departments. 1 .1 t . : .... C?rt Xrt4- . ,1 .1 , wl U11U iiiiitf vttr iiviuc-u. Dr. llallenbeck ranks as one of the youngest of the long line cf state presidents. He was born in Alexandria, Va.. Dec. 2, 18G4. His first active Christian work was as assistant secretary of the Young Men's Christian association in Albany, N. Y. Following this, he entered New Brunswick Theological seminary, graduating in 1S90. His first pastorate was in the North Reformed church, Brooklyn, from 1S00 to 1893. He has since served the First rresbyterian church, Rensselaer, N. Y and the Third Presbyterian church, Albany. His present pastorate of the West Presbyterian church, Binghamton, dates from Jan. 1, 1902. In 1900 Dr. llallenbeck was chosen vice president of the State union, and the following year he was advanced to the presidency and has since been reelected. Rev. Dr. Allen R. Bartholomew, president of the Pennsylvania State union, recently elected by the board of foreign missions of the Reformed church to the office of secretary, was born at Dannersville, Pa., Sept. 10, 1833. In the year 1874 he entered the Theological seminary at Lancaster and was licensed by Lancaster classes at Manheim. Pa., May 25, 1877. His ordination and installation as pastor took place at Hummelstown on June 17 of the same year. Upon the resignation of Rev. Geoige W. Richards as pastor of Salem church at Allentown Dr. Bartholomew was chosen to succeed him. It was a most trying ordeal for him to enter a German-English charge after preaching no German for almost eighteen years, but he adapted himself to the situation, united the people ad the first year rallied them in the bold effort to pay off entirely an indebtedness of almost $13,000. Dr. Bartholomew's untiring efforts for the cause have led to his elevation to the state presidency.
