A beautiful New Year's reception was that given yesterday afternoon by the Athenae at the home of Mr. and Mr. Joseph II. Mills, 101 south tenth street, between the hours of 2:30 and 5 o'clock. The home was arusucany aecoratea m uuu flowers, earnations, and colors, pink and green, and pink carnations were given as favors. The seventy-five members and guests were received by Mrs. Mills and her guest, Mrs. George Buck, of Dayton, anl the reception committee, Mrs. Mark Wilson, Mrs. Frank Coffin, Mrs. J. II. Kinsey and Mrs. I. C. Doan, assisted by the president, Mrs. Philip Snyder. From Kamp's orchestra, screened by palms and other potted plants in the -music room, soft strains of sweet music mingled with the voices of the o-uests throughout the afternoon. ., In the dining room, where light' refreshments were served, the beautiful decorations-and the pretty, gowns of the young ladies who assisted were .blended by the shaded lights.
