be interesting as indicating the
rights in such cases, was tiled today in circuit court, being the suit of Alice M. B.itfs vs James Lvb ult to
recover $ 650 on a note that has b en lost. The complaint states that on
Feb 21, 1891. Lyboult was indebted
to the plaintiff in the sura of $400, and that as evidence rf this in
debtedness the defendant gav the usual form of promissory note payable to the plaintiff, agreeing to pay the aoti in one vear with iaterest at 5J per cent. Plaintiff says that the note has been lost and shei is unable to find it, but that it was
sigoed by James Lyboult with his mark and witnessed by Josephine Lyboult. The suit is for the note and interest amounting to $650.

The Brat Telephoned City. What is the lest telephoned city In the world? Ran Francisco seems to le the answer. In that city, with a population of SJl'.TS there are I'l.al telephones, or slxty-twii per thousand .In Euroie, rope.;luron is probably th best telephoned city, with l.,311 telephones to its 12..S.",9 of p-ipulatio!!. equal to forty-nine per thousand. In Copenhagen, too. the best conditions, for the public exist, although the rates are relatively sis high as those i.t American cities. London compares very unfavorably with these D.-rures. At the beginning of this year t'.iej'e were 41,111 telephones to a population of tnor than .".."4mi.ikk, or a proportion of seven to every thousand people. New York, with a iopu!atio: of 2,3.O.00) had "AT instruments, or twenty -six to a thousand.
