It saved my little boy's life and I feel thai I cannot praise it enough. I bought a bottle of it from A. E. Steere of Goodwin, S. D., and when I got home with it the poor baby could hardly breathe. I gave the medicine as directed every ten minutes until he "threw up" and then I thought sure he was going to choke to death. Whe had to pull the phlegm out of his mouth in great long strings. I am positive that if I had not got that bottle of cough medicine, my boy would not be on earth today. Joel Demont, In wood, Iowo. For sale by A. G. Luken & Co. and W. A. Sudhoff, druggists. ONE OF THE ESTED MEN INTER SAYS That it Will be in Business Inside of Sixty Days and Fully Equipped for Business. The talk of a proposed new na tional bank which has been going for several weeks has atram revived in a way to make it appear that the bank will really start. One of the men interested was seen tnis morn ing with regard to it and was willing to talk, but did not care to nave nis name or tne names or otners-in ine concern mentioned for tne present. He is in business on Main street and one of tne most &uc-eetiui ol our business men in his lir e. He savs the name of the new bank will be tee Gern an National Bank of Richmond. It will be capitalized at $100,000. There has bfen 50.000 of the stock already taken, and they have all the money they need in the company just as it is; but that the balance o: $50,000 is to be distributed in shape to do the bank good. They could have it ail taken now if they desired, but want it distributed more. They expect to have the concern ready for business and running inside of the coming sixty days. It will be located in the west end if possible; that is, if the buil Ung suitable for the purpose can be bought at a proper figure. They intend to buy the property wherever they locate, and fit it up in modern shape for a first class National bank. NARROW ESCAPE. Car Off Pulled the of the the Track Full Length Railroad is Bridge. A most wonderful escape from what might have been a very bad accident, was had at the Panhandle bridge yesterday afternoon. hat is known as the 44F. Gp" freight, made up entirely of cars of perishable goods, with Dave Matthews as conductor, was going west, and just at this end of the bridge one of tbe cars went on tne tract. it - was noticed by the brakeman, who thought the car would go off the bridge and take the train with it. He jumped off and signaled franti cally for the engineer to stop; but bis signals were not noticed and the train went on. Those who saw the position of things held their breath in horror, expecting to see one of the worst accidents ever occurring in this part of tbe country. Had the car left the bridge it would have probably pulled engine and all down, a drop of nearly seventy-five feet. Strange to relate, the car bumped along on the ties the whole length of the bridge, and stayed upright until Sheridan street was passed and then tumbled over on the hill. There was damage to several other cars, but nothing of any great importance. The marks on the ties on the bridge are very plain, where ' ine wueeis oi iue car cut in as iney bumped along. This bridge has been a wonder in the way of escapes from accident. Years ago it was a good deal used by men walking across it on their way to work in the morning, unti'.twoor three had such narrow escapes from being caught by trains that the practice was prohibited bv ordinance. A worn in once jumped off the middle of j the bridge while insane, and lar ding , in tbe water waded ashore. An old i i i- a i . .i f most srapie amcie to tne nnest
man' named Hale? once Tode-a horse
clear across it, and after e'ear to the other end of the bridge fell through. .The horse was "f killed, but the nan i walked up the bar k. unhurt.. There has teea but one person seri- ' ously ii j jred in all the accidents s there of over thirty years the bridge nas stood there. DEATHS AND FUNERALS.
