The Wabash county bar has unani mously recommended Judge Harvey B. Shiveley for the seat on the supreme bench to be vacated in January by Judge Francis E. Baker. Judge Shiveley is a brother of Charles E. Shiveley of this city, and is re. garded all over the state as an able jurist. His appointment would no doubt give general satisfaction.

Mrs. Jenkins, wife of Ex-Governor Jenkins of Oklahoma, and a Richmond woman, by the way, visited the White House the other day and entered a vigorous protest against the summary disposal of her husband by the President. Her interview was cut short by a pressure of executive business, but Mrs. Jenkins promised the President that she '
