Toniqht The Street Railway's Duties. The committee on streets and allev meets this evening and there will be considerable business to come before them. One matter will be the work which the new lines of the traction company have made recessary in level iug up the streets to bring them back to grade. The south eighth street grade especially will be before them. The track is much below the present grade of the street, but it is claimed not below the proper grade; that the street has been raised by filling with gravel and repairing un til it is away above the grade. The railroad company have to put the streets back in as good condition as that in which they found them in all caes. but the question is being raised as to how much of this work this agreement really means. The city civil engineer, Mr. Webber, states that they have to repair and keep in repair the space between their tracks and for eighteen inches ou each side of their tracks. At Earlham. Earlham collega began active work today, the classes beginning. The number of new students coming in is already far in advance cf the number rceived here for many years. The prospects for an exccptionlly successful year are very bright. Howard Trial Continued. Frankfort, Ky.
