Bicycle Car, This morning there came into the city over the Panhandle an improved bicyjle car manufactured by Treetor Lros. of Haerstown for inspection purposes on railroads. One great advantage it possesses is the cheap ness by which it can be run, and also the short time consumed in getting ready for emergency purtoses if necessary. The car has platform containing stats for four persons. The car left nagerstown this morning at 9 00and arrived here at 9:42, and even at that the car was not put to its limi as to speed. With two of the mem bers connected with its manufacture and Superintendent Ohlenger of the uicnmond division and Mr. Jones of maintenance of way, the car left sooriiv aner the arrival lor ; trial trip to Cincinnati. For boiling it should K ground rather coarse, but for filtering it should be powdered. Breakfast coffee is usually Ioihd. To one cup of ground coffee add one egg beaten with one-quarter cup of c.lil water. Stir well together and then Hiur over five cups of Imiling water. St;r and set w here it will come to a boil. Let it Kil for three minutes. then draw to the cooler iwirt of the range. Pour in one-onarter cun of cold water and let it stand ten minutes to settle. It may then lie strained into a silver pot which has leen heated by filling it with boiling water. For after dinner or black coffee make a loi!ed coffee of double strength or use one enp of pulverized coffee and pour three cups of lioilirsg water over it. onehalf cup at a time. Never allow filtered coffee to boil. Burai Soap. To make an excellent soap out of tbe scraps and broken pieces that come from the soap dishes in bedrooms and kitchens. tJrop them into an old tin can. and when it is fall dissolve three ounces of powdered borax In two quarts of warm water, and stir till the soap is melted. When cold, it will form a jelly. This borax soap is excellent for cleaning and does not ad
