t 'ontributen.t It does not require the eye of a prof.het to foresee the future means of beating our cities. If heat, using water as a vehicle, can be distributed from a central station covering a territory measured oy a radius of one mid a half miles from the station, and do it with profit to the investors and ''liure satisfaction to the consumer, the 'oblcin would seem to have been solved. This is what has been done ?y the Toledo Heating t Lighting Co. for the past six years, a period sufcieiently long to place the enterprise iteyond I lie elerimental stage, and entitles it to become classed as a successful business venture. This committee began its work by
employing Addison C. Harris of Ind-
iauauolis to conduct the case, and to
be assisted by Attorneys Lindemuth
and Kirkman. When Mr Harris was appointed embassador to Austria, the committee employed Thomas J. Studv
and A. C. l.indenmth to prosecute the case. Two trials were held before judges brought here from other courts and in each of these, the gas company was sustained and a further prosecution seemed useless and a lack of funds and the difficulty of obtaining them barred the way to a continuance of the cause. now who has "two elephants on his hands." Mr. Hassenbusch. the popular furniture dealer received a telephone message this morning from the freight depot to call immediately for some freight. He sent his delivery wagon to the depot and the driver was informed by the freight clerk that there were two elephants, six men and six women in the freight depot for him to haul to the store, but the driver refused to load them until he returned to the store to consult Mr. Hassenbusch. It required considerable explanation on the part of Mr. Hassenbusch before he could pursuade the driver to go after them again. When the driver loaded them in the delivery wagon and noticed that they had handsome signs painted on them for the store, he was much .surprised. Mr. Hassenbusch will station them on the cross roads in the country, advertising his store.

HAD THE HENLEYS IN WIN NING FROM RACINE LAST NIGHT.
SCORE WAS 3 TO 1
Both Teams Were More or Less Crippled-A Gocd Crowd.
The tirst game of the present series
ltetween the Racne Horlicks and the Heiileys, last night, proved to 1k quite an interesting contest. With Stevens out. there was some apprchenson as to the ability of the Heiileys to hold the visitors down, but the crowd was happily disappointed on that score. I loth teams were more or less crippled. Smith. Racine's first rush, was not feeling well and played half back. Leonard, half-back on the Racine team was out of the game and a new man, Schulze. was in. He is not as strong a player as Leonard. Ott Williams was extra for the Henleys and was called onto the ti.xir for a few minutes toward the close of the game, Mansfield having an accident with his skates. The Racine boys are not like the rough and burly sons of Muncie, who try to win by "running over everything and everybody. They are gentlemen and there was no rough playing seen on the floor. Jessup didn't even teat anylxMjy to jelly with his stick, as he
would have done according to the
Muncie papers, had that team been playing here. There was a large crowd out an.l t lie greatest int. rot w as man trntt-. in the game. The game oiened in good shape and a good article of iolo was put up from the start. The Henleys secured the tirst goal, Patterson making it, assisted by Van Allen, and, by the way, Van Allen put a gilt edged article of m1o last night. The second goal was made by Mansfield unassisted. The final goal of the tirst inning was by Tiwunan. unassisted. In the second inning. Van Allen secured a goal unassisted and the game was finished without another score. In the third inning. Racine had one goal to bounce out. The same team.- play tonight and tomorrow night. The championship games thus far have resulted as follows: Henleys, 4; Royals, 4. Henleys. 2; Royals. O. Henleys, 4; Royals, 1. Henleys, 1; Royals ti. Racine 3: Royals, 1. Racine 1; Royals 1.
