O , for tl.epist s x years, a period su'diciently long to place the enterprise beyond the experimental stage, have furnished heat, through the Yaryan system, to over two hundred consumers and have established plants in La Porte, It d , Mattoon, 111., La Cross', Kenosha and Portage, Wis. , Boone, Perry, Ida (.rove, Iowa Falls and Mason City, Iowa, all of which are in succesful operatiou. Last year they installed a plant at Evanston, a fashionable suburb of Chicago, and dur ing the several blizzards during the winter over eighty residences were kept at a temperature of 70 degrees without the consumer changing the valves to regulate the How of water, this being necessary only iu the spring and fall of the year. The cost of the service, considering that the buildings are heated more thoroughly and for a greater number of hours, is less than if heated with private furnaces. The rate for the average two-story house is seven cents per square foot of ground lloor measurement er year. Whilst your entire house is ot tne same temperature, ir desired, the cost of the service is based upon the ground tloor meas uremert. Where limited or irregu iar space is to be heated, or one stor house ior iustat.ee. the rate is eleven cents per square foot of radiation per year, tnus niaKtng it possible to he otliees, factories or other buildings any temperature, economically.
