What is a

Diamond ?

It is a pure carbon, nia.le r!uij by intense heat, cooled nnjec great pre-ssure. It is the hardest of known sutw-tances. imperishable and eternally beautiful. It shows in its heart the lamlent rtan:es amid which it had its birth, ni it reflects from its polished facets the white gKnl of loftiest Alpine snows. GeoIoj;i--ts say that diamonds have a kind of life of their own. anil all mankind have ever aspired to possess them. Kings wear them as the most regal ornaments of their crowns. Conquerors have ever hung them ujxn the white neck of beauty. They are as fair as Grecian Helen, and in their glowing depths dwells the inexpressible fascination of the Egyptian Cleojvura. They .ienote success, and they help by this presumption to bring fortune to him who vtears them for appearances eout-t foe much in this world.
