Mr. Charles Insco Williams, the musician, who has been in this city for some weeks, leaves this evening or tomorrow for Piqua, O, Mr. Williams has made many friends here, who will regret his departure. He will visit friends in Dayton, Chicatro and elsewhere and intends going abroad in the early summer. The plan considered but not yet decided ujion by the trustees of the Home of the Friendless for the appnintment of a police matron was to have the matron of the Home uppointed to that office, and make the olice matronship an ex-officio of such home matron. A presiding officer must be appointed for the council tonight. This presiding officer will, act in that capacity duriug the absence of the mayor. The Indiana Republican league will meet at Anderson' one week from today and tomorrow. Hooker T. Washington will deliver the principal address one week from tonight. The ambulance was employed this morning to remove Mrs. Beitnum, a paralytic, from 551 north thirteenth street to the union statiou, to be sent to her home at Geneva. Ind. The candidates from all over the county are paying in their assessments, and Demas Coe, the county Republican committee's new secretary, is the busiest man in town. Assessments for candidacy on the Repu blican ticket have to be paid in this week. It is ouly tvo weeks from today till the nominating election aud the tickets have to be prepared and printed in the meantime.
Starbuck, the man who is accused of being Harry Boyd's partner in the apple and potato theft at Charley Pyle's, was arrested and brought to to city prison this morning by Park Page.
