NEW INSURANCE LAW
CONTEMPLATED IX THE STATE OF INDIANA. What the Features Are and Whence Coccea the Model on Which They Are Based NewCompany Forming. a , I ft 1 A. -1 ; a. strong en jrt wui oe maae at ue : coming session of the legislature to secure changes in the existing insnraace laws. One bill has already been pre pared by which a company conditionally organized expect, to inc rporate acd at once transact business as a straight life insurance company. The subscriptions of stock have already been taken by three hundred people, and the capital stock of the company will be $100,000 The condition on which the stock has been subscribed is that a proMsion be made in the laws for its continuance beyond a certain period of years. The bill, as prepared, amends section 10 of the new law cf J 852, so that if the company may be organized for life insurance its existene shall be perpetual, while fire ia-u-ance companies are limited to thirty years, as heretofore. Section 13 of the same law is changed so that 50 per cent, of the capital stock shell be paid up and invested ia "bonds of the United States or of this state, or certificates of deposit of solvent banks or trust companies in this state, or in bonds and mortgages upon unincumbered real estate in tbe state of Indiana, worth at least double the sum loaned thereon." The amended section is more specific as to how the money shall be invested than is the law as it stands today, and bars out investments under the term "stocks," as is in the present law. Section 16 provides that the securities 8 hall be deposited with the auditor of state, and is a meie change of wording, "securities" being used instead of the word "stocks." Article 17 is amended by the addition of tbe clause, "Provided, that the entire stock of such company shall conf-t tute a trust fund for the protection of its solicy holders." Section IS provides that no life in8 trance company or a ized under this act shall pay dividends or write any policies until it has on deposit with the auditor of state securities equal in amount and value to the net cash value of all policies in had December 13, immediately proceeding, as ascertained upon the basis of the American experieno table of mortality and 4 per cent interest. It further requires an annual report to the aud.tor cf state, and gives that official authority to make a searching investigation of the affairs of the companies if he deems it necessary. Those agnaing tbe passage of this law cairn that under it the life insurance companies of this state will be enabled to di business on the high plane on which the business of the large eastern companies is transacted, and that it will make it possible to have such companies in the state of Indiana. The bill is largely modeled after the laws of the state of Iowa on insurance, and the general result, it is said, will be to give a legal reserve basis for the companies. Another bill is under preparation looking to the amendment of tbe laws governing mutual companies, in which the Iowa law is taken as a model. Fred C. Lahrman. 9Sc ladies' nullifiers. This "best malt" is known to the trade as The "Best" Tonic Pahst Malt Extract. It is a long time since I tirst came into the knowledge of this excellent brand ot malt, and it will be an equally long time (it I live) before 1 will give it up lor any other. I believe in The "Best" Tonic as being the best ; no punning being intended. It is not acrid or sour, as too many of the brands are. It "sets" well on the stomach in weak ladies who reject the ordinary malts. It keeps well also, which is an item of moment. It is economical in cost, and is pleasant in taste. Such characteristics ousht to make doctors try it, if you don't already know its merits, and such of my readers as have not yet invested in it would do well to find out for themselves what it really is, and I am sure that they will not be disappointed when they do." It will put new flesh upon you. brace you up, revive the whole system. It "feeds blood, brain, nerves and boue. If one of your loved ones is ill. and is growing thin and weak. The "Best" Tonic will "give him new strength and keep up his spirits. It is easily digested, and is full of the very best nourishment in concentrated form, food for both the body and the nerves. If pale and anemic, it will give rich, red blood, and plenty of it. and will help to bring glowing cheeks and sparkling eyes. It nervously exhausted, it will brace you right up, give you vim and bounce. It is a boon to every nursing mother, and supplies the right nourishment for both herself and her baby. It brings strength to me invaiiu. creates a gooa appetite, helps to cure dyspepsia, and will go far to insure sound, refreshing slumber to all those who suffer from wakefulness from any cause. How many " pretty -featured " 'girls and women lose all their charm and attractiveness by being pallid, sallow and gray, as if all the blood in their veins were turned to skimmed milk! Even when riding a bicycle, playing tennis or golf, or taking other pleasant -exercise, their eves are still dull and lifeless, no flush beautifies their cheeks, and the air of languor and lassitude makes them "sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought." or else, like Cassius, have a "lean and hungry look." These disagreeable features are the outcome of anemia, a wasting out of the corpuscles of the blood, thinning down of the vital fluids, until a person is weak, emaciated and unhealthy looking. The antidote to this unpleasant condition, however is at hand. Pabst Malt Extract. The " Best" Tonic, is an immediate and visible help in making a soft, glowing color, a splendid appetite, a power to digest and assimilate the food, and turn it into fine, pure, healthful blood.
