Henry Maey and Rachel Trotter were united in the holy bonds ot matrimony in a small log honse whioh ie a till standing one mile east ot Williamsburg. These aged people are en toying a vigorous old age on their homestead three miles northeast ot Williamsburg. Mr. Macy ha attained the ripe age of eighty three, while the bride ot his youth is now eighty. The union has been a very happy and prosperous one, and was blessed with eight children, ot whom six (five daughters and one son) are still living. It is very rarely that any couple live to oelebrata the sixtieth anniversary ot their wedding, and it waa canoluded to have a great family gathering on this day. Last Tuesday the old farm house was orowded with children, graadehildren and other relatives to the number ot nearly a hundred who assembled to do honor to the ocoasion. An elegant dinner, oonsisting ot all that the ingenuity ot the Wayne oounty housewives oould devise, was spread at noon. Before partaking ot it Mr. and Mrs Maoy were eaoh presented with a handsomely upholstered rocker by their on oantord on behalf ot their children. Mrs. Sexton, a well-known minister of the U. B. Churoh. aged ninety-three years, was present and invoked the Divine blessing upon the feast and the assembled oompany. After doing ius tioe to this elegant spread the time was spent yery profitably in sooial intercourse and games by the young folks. Appropriate musio tar the oooasion was rendered by some home talent and was muoh appreciated. Late in the atter noon the oompany dispersed to their homes, wishing air. and Mrs. Maoy many happy returns of the day. -i.a,t Oaji af Pesaaell." Wintry Caster City. A visitor to Yankee Fork, Idaho, in 1881 now residing here, says he arrived in Custer City on the 4th of August in that year, and on the night following his arrival snow fell to the depth of eighteen inches. That year the total fall was thirty feet, and the residents congratulated themselves on having such a mild winter. Custer City butchers slaughter cattle enough in the early fall to meet the winter demand and pile the dressed carcasses up like cord wood in the rear of their meat stalls. No paper is used to wrap meats in purchased by the patrons, who carry it to their homes on sticks of wood f aslaioned similar to skewers and pushed through the stakes or roasts to keep the hand from coming in contact with the icy meat, which is frozen so bard that a dog cannot chew it until the frost is thawed out of it over a fire. Miners purchase beef by the quarter and throw it on top of the wood pile in front of their cabins, and when tney go out to chop an armful of wood they also chop off a steak from the beef for their meals. Virginia City Chronicle. Not aa Mesa aa Ha Leaked. Twoyoung girls, closely pursued by a dark visaged Italian, darted from an alleyway on Dearborn avenue one day last week. The screaming girls ran until the jail was reached when thev sank exhausted on the stone sidewalk. A large crowd quickly gathered, and angry and excited men roughly collared the Italian, who had turned and walked sullenly toward Kinzie street after the girls had fallen exhausted. "Cries of "Lynch him 1" "Hang him P etc, were freely indulged in while the supposed assailant of virtue was being led back, none too gently, to be identified by the girls. When the captors and captive were within speaking distance the yownger of she two girls cried imploringly, "O pay him for the grapes we stole; pay him for the grapes we stole f The Italian muttered sullenly, "They steala my grapes." The vindicated man was quickly released, the girls stole sheepishly off, and 200 men and women smiled and quickly dispersed. It was one of the many funny incidents happening daily on the streets of this city. Chicago Herald. Canada's chief quarantine officer exnulla etinleva Baft aee.

The charter of incorporation passed the great seal on the 15th of July, 1662, and was read on the 13th of August following. The fame of such men as Sir Robert Moray, Bovle, Evelyn, Pepys, Wallis, Ilooke and Wren, who were among the incorporators, continues lively to this day. It may not be, as has been said, that the incorporation of the Royal society was the only wise act of Charles II, yet it has proved itself, without a doubt, his wisest act. Dr. William C.
