S hater sold his transfer business and livery stable, he made ar rangements to give the men employed in this line a supper, at the Huntington House at suoh time as would suit their oonvenienoe. Jest night almost a dosen employes surrounded a table at this popular house and partook of a sumptu ous repast. The boys are enthusiastic in their praise ot the lay out. and grateful to Mr. Shaffer for his kindness. Turner W. Haynea returned from Chattanooga last evening. He was there on business a week. While there he was called upon by a number of bus iness men who were desirous that the works ot Haynea, Spencer & Co. should be removed to that city. His reply was that it would take money, and lots ot it, to induoe the firm to leave Richmond, and that settled it That ia all the foundation there is in the rumor that this enterprising firm would probably change its base of operations. Slipper Seelal. The school of Miss Pittsmeyer. No. 6, in Wayne township, had an unique and novel entertainment last night that created a great deal ot amusement. It was a slipper social. The young ladies present were behind a screen only their feet being visible. The young gentle men selected their partners tor supper from the footwear worn. Bat few ot the boys were fortunate in securing the girl desired, yet the disappointment only added to the mirthfulness ot the oeeaaioa.
