one man .and six women. rt of thirty-eight tnere are but four men, vi : Ezekiel Cooper, Samuel K. Boyd, Casedy Bamton and Joseph Latahaw. It ia possible there hare been fraudu lent pensions issued through the procuring of unprincipled pension agents; but in Wajne county, it appears from the foregoing that they haye not been overuccessfuL Recent adyices from Washington indicate that Colonel Dudley is thinning out some of the most corrupt agents. It ia a much-needed want. If an order were issued from the pension bureau that henceforth no claims would be entertained which had passed through agents' hands, the purity of the service would be improved, and the deterring applicants' chances of success not injured. These gentlemen "with unequaled facllities ahould hare an opportunity of try

There was no one to intercede between the hapless canine and his cruel tormentor. The discourse occupied in its delivery just seventytwo minutes. After its conclusion the orator complacently anticipated the sensation it would produce on his Congregation the next Sabbath, and went away to another .town to transact some necessary business.
