Joel Barnhart, of Michigan, who had been visiting his Jon Zach in this city, left last night for Wabash, on his return. Bond yesterday purchased the real estate, machinery, appurtenances and good will of the Richmond Chair Company,, managed by Crawford . Sons, and will continue the business on an extended scale. The new Unit will be known as Bond, Chapline A Co. Mr. Bond will have the general management, Mr. Chapline will travel in the interest of the establishment, and Mr. Crawford will retain the position of Superintendent. The establishment has been doing a very satisfactory bubiness, but it is confidently expected that it will be largely increased, as the gentlemen composing the new firm are energetic, and have am pie means. DemUt of Ooatdlavh Hswrria. Obadiah Harris, of Guthrie county, Iowa, died on the 1st inst, in the seventy-first year of his age. He came to Wayne county from Noith Carolina, when but two years of age. His father, Obadiah Harris, was a minister in the Society of Friends, and settled near New Garden meeting-house, betore tne war oi 1812, with a large family, but they have nearly all passed away. The annual meeting of the stockholders in the Hoosier Drill Company was held yesterday, and the following gentlemen were elected directors: John M. Westcott, Omar Hollingsworth and Jas, A. Carr. One of the most pleasant parties of the season was that given at the residence of J. R. Preston one mile north of the city last evening. It was attended by a large number of Richmand lads and lasseia, who enjoyed it hugely. There is fine coasting near the residence, and a bob sled was rigged which went down the long hill like a shot. AU whs well ana the exhilarating sport was charming, until, on making one run. the sled struck an ash pile, which np-ct it and mixed the occupants in a promiscuous heap. Several . unfortunates found comfortable lodging in the station-house last night. During the present cold weather its doors stand open night and day. matob's oocbt. Charley Morrison was before his Honor this morning, charged with being a vagrant having no visible means of support. It was alleged that Charley was homeless and friendless, and subsisted on the free lunches given in the saloons. He was once a promising young man, but is now a "total wreck." He was fined 10.60, and in default of payment was sent to the county jaiL William Thompson, who has been loitering around town several days, subsisting Ka food begged of kind htarted people, was arrested as a vagrant last evening, and was this morning seut to the stone pile for fourteen days. Michael Burns wss brought before his Honor charged with intoxication. Michael on being interrogated as to bis guilt, said: "I'll tell your Honor just how it was. I came here from Dayton yesterday, and in ten minutes after my arrival I struck a crowd of seventeen persons, one of whom I was acquainted with. He introduced me to the rest, and we wtut from 'one saloon to another drinking and eating, until -at last I was overcome, and the police nabbed me and took me to the station house." "Were they men in buckram I" asked his Honor. "Indeed, they were not, sir," was the ready answer, "they were gentlemen, most of them saloon keeers, and one of them an illegant singer.". The policeman who made the arrest, aware of the fact that some of the saloon keepers had ah. o. t. (high old time) yesterday, told the Mayor that he was under the impression that a correct statement bad teen given. "But why is it that you have no money!" asked the Mayor. "Sure and I have," was the reply, and several quarters and dimes were shown in attestation of the truth of the assertion. "None could be found on you last night," continued his Honor. 'Quite right,8ir," was answered, "for I had taken the precaution to hoide it, fearing I would be robbed." On his saying that be would leave the city instanter, he was permitted to vanish.

Joseph Uiersdorfer bad just completed delivering meat to his customers and had turned into Fifth street from Noble street, yesterday at noon, when a wheel of his nobby delivery wagon struck the street railway track and in the twinkling of an eye the wagon was turned over on its side. Joseph "took a tumble," but, alighting where the snow was of considerable depth, did not sustain any in$0ry. Boone Lamb, one of Wayne county's oldest citizens, died at his residence on Elkhoru, five miles south of this city. yesterday. The deceased had attained the venerable age of seventy-four years, ,11 of which had been spent in this coun ty. We are intormea mat lie aseu in ine house in which he was born, lie was singular in many respects, and hd pecul iar ideas, but he was a man oi sine i integrity, and his "word was as good as his bond." He was genial and tenderhearted, and was beloved by his neighbors for his many acts of kiudnesv. His name will be remembered and his memory revered long after many who made a more pretentious showing in life have lecn forgotten. Ilunw Itanaoering. In pursuance of an ordinance of the Com mon Council of the City of Richmond notice is hereby given that the Commit tee on Streets and Alleys will receive sealed proposals for furnishing and put ting up house numbers and street names, such proposals to be placed in the bands of said committee on or before the 21st day of January, 1981, at 2 o'clock p. m., at which time they will ojien bids and award the contract.
