Speakingof the Remington fair, the Fowler JBro says that ‘‘prospects aie flattering that the ensuing fair will eclipse any of its predecessors- This Is an institution expressly for the counties of White, Jasper, Newton and Benton, and ought to be patronized by our farmers and mechanics. The Valparaiso Messenger says that a street evangelist has been preaching to tbe people of that city “pure, nld-lsabion orthodox doctrines, an inheritanoe of genuine liquid hell, fire and brimstone for the sinner; to be taken withont any relief whatever from valuation orappraisemeut laws.” The Messenger also says: “Six black eyes and one busted nose are the sum total of the injuries inflicted upon resdentsof the Vale on the fourth.” ‘‘lt is a lamentable fact that social conversation nowadays consists largely of gossip and scandal.” From the last two observations an impartial hearer might readily infer that that evangelist understood his duty and was the right man in the right placeLast Monday Fred Hoover brought to market one hundred head of the fiuest hogs that have been sold here in many year&..:..Mrs. A.
