Union have decided not to announce tv meeting of tho society for the month of December, 1878, but postpone It ono week* The reason* for this action are, first, that the regular time of mooting (the last Monr day of December! falls in the midst of the holiday festivities, when people ate spl lo be employed wffli other affairs; and, secondly, because at the time of the mouth these meetings have been held the nights arc always without a moon; by changing over ono « eek light evening* will be had the yenr round. Tho programme prepared for the meeting that will bo held in the Methodist Episcopal church Monday night January Gth, 1879, is as fellows: 1. Opening song by Methodist Episcopal church choir. —• 2. Prayer by F.cv. Hope B. Miller. 3. Music by Ladies’ Orchestra bund. 4. Reading a selection of sseredr Scripture by Miss Celia Wilkinson. 6. Reading minutes of previous meetings. 0. Music by Ladies’s Oehestra band, 7. Address by S. P. Thompson, Esq. 8. Select solo by Miss Hnttio Uoeu. 9. Declamation by Mr. Robert Parrs. 10. Select reading by Horace E. James. 11. Duet by the Misses Rosa and Hattiw Coen. 12. Essay by Prof. Q. W. Alien. 13. Song by Master Willie Imes. 14. Declamation by Miss Anna MuEwen.' 16, Election of officers (il in order). 16. Music by Ladies’s Orchestra band. 17. Bonediction. As the meeting will be hold during cir 1 ’ cuit court session gentlemen of neighboring cities may bo present who will add to the variety and interest of the .occasion.; but whether strangers are present or not it is earnestly hoped that each person who has been assigned a place on the programme will feel inspired to contribute wfiat he may to make :t complete success of the first meeting of the society in the new year.
