Tliere is a very fair crop off this delicious fruit in Jasper county this season. Hon. John Lee of CrawfoidsviMe, delivered a political speech in the court house last evening to a lair audience. Judge 1). S. Gooding had been billed tint did not come. Mr. Ocutliit nnd Mr. Me Kwvn appeared to be highly delighted with Mr. Lee's effort. Joseph L. Morelan died at Waterloo, Ind., Aug. 23d, 1878, aged 45 years. He was a son of Joseph Morlan of Jasper county, and a large circle of relatives live in this vicinity. The Waterloo Press, in a brief biographical sketch, describes Mr. Morlan as an excellent citizen and an influential member of society.
There will be a grand excursion to the Soldiers’ Home, at Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday, September 17, 1878, via L., M. & it. and C., C. &I. railroads. Fare tor the round trip, $2.00.
