The Era, a republican newspaper published at Fowler, says that Gen. Mauson, the democratic candidate for auditor of state, lias, not been drinking intoxicating beverages to excess for several months. Only a few weeks ago a very prominent democratic politician'of Indiana, who has been intimately acquainted with Gen. Manson twenty-five years or more, and who sees him almost daily, said to a company of gentlemen in Rensselaer, that he thought Gen. Manson was drinking too much for his own good, but hoped he would not drink as much in the future as he had been in the habit of doing. Several democratic newspapers made this charge against Gen. Manson before his nomination by the democratic party, but none of them have it. What does this mean?
