The granger’s market report for the week ending May 21st, 1878, is as follows: Farming interests active, especially plowing and corn planting, both being for in advance of the corresponding time last year. We quote: Plowing in old ground about 00 per cent, done; sod 50 to tiU per cent. Planting: Choice upland pieces, tlqished; medium, about half done; sod and lowland, begun. Oats and flax are steadily advancing, bidding fair to rule the market' at an early day. In the wtather department there baa' been great activity of late. A largo variety was crowded on to the market during • the week. Some medium to fair willy.* touch of cold was followed by heavy consignmonts of bad from the West. Three or four runaway teams reported. ■. United States notes scarce and hold firm. No btrgu denominations in ; the market. Transactions eonfined entirely to Is, 2s and ss. Occasionally a little SHver is offered with few takers. Holden stubborn. A good degree of confidence is felt in commercial circles and private notes are usually held at par. , Political stocks.
