The committee proceeded to fill vacancies in -the central committee by the appointment of Calvin White nnd Daniel Brown, of Newton township; Peter Folks and John A Benson, of Mitroy; Geo. H. Brown, jr., of llarkley; and Lorenzo Tinkhsm, of Walker.
What the Democratic Central Committee Did.
A portion of those who did not decline to serve ns members ot the democratic central committee of Jasper county assembled at the caH of their chairman, last Saturday, with Dr. .1. H. Lougliridge as chairman nnd Ira W. Yeoman secretary, and transacted the following business: Hearranged the central committee by substituting Tltomss .1. McCoy for Charles P. Hopkins who declined, as the m.-mher for Renosclaer; substituted James A. Kays and Jay Lantson for Henry Welsh and Elliott B. Burr in Jordan township: substituted Arthur Whitson for James Brookes in Keener township; substituted George W. Cantwell for Thomas M. Jones who declined in Kankakee township; substituted Edward Culp in Carpenter township for George Major removed to ll- nton county. Called a delegate convention to nominate a county ticket nt the court house in Benssehter, June 221—same day and place appointed by the nationals, with wbont they will probably succeed in making an alliance. The basis of representation in this convention is one delegate for each twenty voles cast for Governor Williams in 1876, and townships polling leas than forty votes to have two jch-gnlss.
