Corporation Election.

At the corporation election held Monday', May 6th, 1878, the total number of voter polled was 194. There were distributed as* follows: First ward, 63; second ward, 34;' third ward, 37; fourth ward, 36; fifth ward, ?4. Two tickets wore in the field; a regularly noffirinsted rtptrtri lean ticket, and aa opposition ticket composed of republicans and democrats. The-result was as follows: William Meyer, tfewWrnt, was elected trow-" tee from the first Wt over Archibald cupile, republicair, b/ two majority; Marion L. Spitler, republican,- elected trustee from the second ward by a majority of three over James B, Lonzhridge, democrat; Dewitt C. Hopkins, n-ilwnSt,- on both tickets for trustee from fbvrit ward received 189 votes; Peter Rhoades, republican nominee, elected trustee from the fourth ward over’ Simon Phillips, i epublican on opposition ticket, by seven nlajurityf George Kannal, republican, elected trustee 1 for fifth ward over Thomas J. McCoy, democrat, by two majority. Willis J. lihes, <AfrtVoctat, elected treasurer over Charles C. Starr, republican, by nine majority; Nathaniel W. Reeve, republican, and Truitt P. Wright, republican on opposition ticket, received Ou votes each for clerk; Wright successful by lot; Marshall D. Rhoades, republican, received five majority for assessor over Benjamin Waldorf, democrat. For town marshal Warner G. Smoot, democrat, received 101 votes; Cassius M. Hopkins, republican, 80 votes.
