Republican Senatorial Convention.
A delegare convention will be held at Goodland, Newton county, Indiana, Wednesday, June 12th, 1878, at 10 o’clock a. m., for the purpose of nominating a republican candidate for state senator for the 24th senatorial district, comprising the counties of Benton, Newton, Jasper and White. The basis of representation will be one vote for each one hundred votes cast for Gen. Harrison for governor in 1876 and an additional vote for each fraction over fifty. This basis gives Benton county thirteen votes in the convention, Newton eleven, Jasper twelve, White sixteen ; total fifty-two. The announcement is signed by D. E. Straight of Benton, Andrew Hall of New ton, Simon P. Thompson of Jasper, and D. L. Fisher of White. A hill delegation from each county is desired.
