To Thinking Men.
Generally speaking, there is no question but that investments of money in real estate are the safest, and, sooner or later, give the largest returns of any that can be made. This proposition will hardly be disputed by any intelligent observing person. This fact has been established by the experience of centuries in every civilized land, i’liis is why real estate security is considered tho best, und why capitalist* are ever ready to loan their means on real jaiatatuorigiges. —-.- ... There are many laboring men Vrho pay rent on property thut is owned by others which eats iuto their enrnings like a canker anil keeps them poor all tlffiir lives. If by the practice of a little economy and foresight they would save the amount of this rent and apply it in payments on a lot or small piece of land they would soon be owners of comf jrtable homes, instead ,of poor renters dependent upon vlic caprice of landlords who arc often exacting and not over uccommodatiug. Many a young man spends money foolishly— wastes it for cigars, tobacco, livery hire, show tickets, etc., even if not for purposes more harmful—which, were it applied ti> tho purchase of laud, would soon make them possessors of valuable property, establish a basis upon which to build up a flourishing business bringing comfortable incomes and starting them on the high road leading to competency or even affluence, und ensuring against penury and want in old age: ” The attention of people of these two classes who are looking for opportunities to better thair present unsatisfactory condition—people of practical sense—is directed to wlint hero follows: Lying nlung the east side of Rensselaer and within the pre-eiTt corporation limits of the tuwu. 13 a strip of fine prairie land, embracing as area of nearly eighty acres,, that was aelectcd in the early settlement of Jasper county by a gentleman from the statu of New York whose keen judgment foretold that its excellent quality and desirable location would one day make it sought after us a valuable investment. Two or three years ago Mr. Leopold, iu the exercise of his remarkable shrewdness, bought this tract, had it surveyed, laid out in blocks aud lots with necessary streets, platted it nnd pul it on the public records of the county as Leopold’s Addition to the Town of Rensselaer. Along the east side of this Addition a public highway has since been located, opened and established; along the south end is the Hanging Grove road ; ttje track of the new Indianapolis, Delphi & Chicago railway is laid along the norih end. Extensive ditches, ample for thorough drainage, where opened through this body of land last summer. Business will naturally drift eastward nnd northward from what has hitherto been the heart of town, attracted by tho railroad; and lots in Leopold’s Addition must, from their location with reference to this tendency, have their present value greatly enhanced, and this speedily and permanently. There can be no question of this, if the hisiory of .other towns similarly situated is any criterion by which to draw conclusions. Wide-awake people have discerned this fact already, and sales of lots are beiti-4 made every day. They are tiuW being offered very cheap bj she owner who de-ires to runlize his money and invest it in another branch of business; hut after they have goue out of his hands the new owners will assuredly avid large percentage to what they pay for them. Xs a special inducement, to those who want lots on which to build homes and have not ready means to make large investments —as a special inducement for them to buy nt once and Commence os quickly as possible to cut off ruinous outlays for rest, and foolish ones which at the very best contribute only to temporary gratification—Mr. Leopold oilers lots in any part of his Addition nut already sold or Bargained for. either singly or in numbers, on credit with easy terms of payment. ContrictsowtHbe made with any who wnnt to avail themselves of this remarkable offer, to receive monthly payments of five dollars on each lot bought, | giving warranty deed for same when the j payment* are ail made. Ae terms so liberal j are seldom offered anywhere, and as prop- j erty in this lawn will never be cheaper than ft now is but is certain to advance rapidly ; in price, does not reflection' and sound jud- | ment seem to suggest to ovary person that | wants n cheap and pleasant home in a | beautiful, healthy, thriving town the im- j portance of prompt action to avail himself ! of the rare opportunity here presented he- l fore it shall have become too late? In all | matters piertaining to business, delays are proverbially dangerous. .Many an opportunity to improve pecuniary conditions has fled never to return while those wham they ...were presented hesitated and ; were dilatory! Now is the time to buy.
