County Board of Education.
The County Board of Education was in session Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week. A number of rules and regulations in regard to the school affairs of Jasper county were adopted, among which the most important arc sis follows: 1. Requiring the Superintendent to keep an office at the county seat. The first aud thin! Mondays of each month to be regular office days. 2. Requiring the Superintendent to hold a theoretical examination ou the last Saturday of March, 1878, for special examination in the theory and practice of teaching. 8. The Superintendent was required to arrange a course of study for the" township Institutes, which shall embrace the subjects of the theoretical examination. 4. Gave 'the Superintendent authority •to convene special called session* of the County Board of Education. 5. The Superintendent to make a clsssificatiou.of teachers on the basis of marii, without regard to grade of license. 0. Instructed the Superintendent to prepare and publish ia a pamphlet form the rules and regulations of the Coltuty Beard of Education in regard to the public schools of Jasper county. . 7. Re-adopted the course of study and system of gradation bow in use in the county. 8. Adopted a programme tor uniform use in the district schools; 9. Defined a school day to consist of six

Teachers are to notify parents of the book* needed by their pupils, and if they nro r.ot famished iu a reasonable length ol time to suspend the pupil* till the book* aro furnished. 14. Parents must send their pupil*punctually nnd regularly ; au.-tlaiti the teachers aud school authorities; encourage home study, nnd discourage social parlies, protracted meetings and other inllnem-e* that ore calculated to draw the tniuds of pupils from their studies. 15. Fixed the lime for the county Institute for ]t37*4 to convene at the Inst week in August.
