( '•»•'’ . o An act approved March >l, 1877, provides for the election of the various town-hip officers (including supervisors) in April instead of October, Two days afterward, March 5, an act was approved, consisting of several sections, upon the subject of the duties of supervisors,'And which provides for their election in October, as formerly. This was evidently an- oversight in legislation. lam disposed to assume the responsibility of recommending that the /election Of supervisors should be hud In April with the other township officers, let the law be aa it may'fechnlenliyl I'd" so tor tile following reasons: 'The manifest absurdity "uselessness of the additional etpmse of electing them in October while the other township officers are elected in April: the office is one for whiqli there will be no contest in ftie courts 'most probnhly; and evfq .if the election technically should be in October instead of April, yet a person eleoted in April and assuming the office, would be a supervisor dp facto, and his official acts binding upon the public. Very respectfully,
