The grand jury found sixteen imlictnuuts at their recent session. Charley Crockett and El. Dowell are over in Miami county this week. Thanks to Mr. S. F. Healey for a late copy of the San Francisco Chronicle. A colt show was the attraction on the south side of the river Saturday afternoon. Mr. Jacob Eiglesbach has hung out a new meat sign. It presents a very neat appearance. Work is progressing on the foundation for Mr. Win. 11. Rhoades 1 new brick business block. The new band is composed of a windy set of follows. They are some pumpkins on the blow. Icc cream, strawberries, oranges, lemons, cakes, candies, etc., at Emmet Kannal's ice cream parlors. Mr. William Kenton returned Monday night from a two w eeks’ visit to Kansas. Ife reports a wet season in that state. A drenching rain accompanied by severe thunder and lightning, and very high wind, visited this seotinnof coanlry last Monday. Remember the temperance meeting to be held at the Raptist church next Monday evening. You will miss a rich treat if you fail to attend. The wind blew down quito a number of fruit and Rhade trees and considerable fencing in different parts of the county during the storm last Monday afternoon. Miss Amanda Osborne, teacher of school number two, Barkley town ship, repona fur the month ending June 8U», as follows; Number enrolled, 19; average daily attendance 13. Laura Parkison, Stella 1 arkison, Jennie Shook and May Barkley were perfect during the month in attendance and punctuality- Those pus sect for the first month were Ida Parkison, Laura Parkison, Stella Parkison and Genie Osborne. The festival at the M. E. church - last Saturday evening was a grand success iu every particular and surpassed the most sanguine expectations ot all. The house was filled to us utmost capacity with both old and young who had come to take part in the festivities, and each one present seemed to do. his or her level best to make the occasion one of pleasure and enjoy tnent, in which they succeeded admirably. Everything was arranged in the best of style and the ladies havingcharge of the affair displayed exceedingly good taste and judgment in their manner of - conducting it. The refreshments served consisted of cake, strawberries and ice cream, the supply «t which was completely exhausted. The most noticeable feature of the occasion was the floral' table which was loaded down, piled up and running over with boquets made from the choicest and most beautiful collation of flowers we have had the pleasure of gazing upon this season. Taking ail in all the affair was Hie most brilliant held in Rensselaer for many a day, and one long to be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be present.
