Joe Bowers to the Front.
Mr. Joo Bowers, not the “Joe Bowers” who had “a brother Ike,” but one who is equally as notorious and who is, perhaps, a great deal more desperate a character, . was arrested a. day or two ago in Remington npon a charge of committing rape upon the person of a Mrs. Cottrell.* Courtbeing in session at this place he was brought over here to answer to the charge preferred. and entered into recognizance in the sum of S2OO for his appearance at the next term of the circuitcourt. It is a nasty scrape and has created no little excitement in the neighborhood where it occurred. This Joe Bowers is the same fellow who cut quite an ugly figure in this place several years ago and whose memory is still fresh in the minds ofYnosl of our citizens. He is a regular dare devil and if he had his just deserts the penitentiary would b<« bis abiding place. .
