NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

Ab, yes, dear democratie friend, all ie peaceful and quiet down in Louisiana. Bright verdure clothes the trees, fiweet flowers are blooming, twittering birds sing in the leafy groves, and the air is redolent with the intoxicating fragranee of ten thousand brilliant flowere. Election is over now and there is no occasion 'to inflame the northern minds with tales of outrage, rapine and bloodshed; hence all is calmness, serenity and love. Isn't this n charming picture, dear democratic friend? lan’t it lovely? Don’t your heartbeat stronger, and your nerves thrill with gladness, and aren't you proud to know that the gentle bulldozer—the genuine reformer —votes the democratic ticket and enjoys life in that delightful region, blessed with a profusion of the kindly gifts of generous Nature? The picture would be lovely indeed, were it not for an imperfection, which, though perhaps trifling of itself, in ar 8 the gilded frame, splashes the bright coloring with a hideous daub, and strikes horror to the minds of some beholders. That imperfection is falsehood. It is not all peace and happiness in Louisiana. Outrages are still committed there by the bulldozing reformers. On Wednesday of last week a band of refor r.ers of West Feliciana parish shot down in cold blood, in broad day, in the court house yard of St. Francisville, Mr. D. A. Weber, editor of the Bayou Sara Ledger and tax-collector of that parish. Six* teen bullets were found imbedded in his body, but the coroner’s jury could Dpt ascertain how the eame there. Of course no political significance attaches to this gentle* man’s fatality, because political murders are only the figments of the disordered brains of the editors of northern republican newspapers* and never have any existence in fact. The saintly bulldozers never kill a man on account of his political opinions; but singularly, very singularly as a mere coincident, in this ease, as in every other one that has ever been reported, the victim happened to be an active republican leader.
