Cost of Broad and Narrow Gauges.
The difference in weight and cost of the rolling stock of the broad and narrow gauge railroads have been calculated as follows: A locomotive, a baggage ear, Pullman car and four passenger can on an ordinary road give capacity for 230 passengers, weight 138 tens, and coat $63,000; one locomotive and six passenger can on a narrow gauge road give capacity for 272 passengers, weight 58 tons and cost only SIB,OOO.
