Hayes and Wheeler Club.
A meeting‘of the Hayes and Wheeler Club of Renaaelaer was held on last Saturday evening. Oo motion Mr. J. M. Hopkins was appointed secretary vice Mr. M. O. Cissel, who declined to serve. Mr. S. P. Thompson was called upon and responded in an enthusiastic speech, which was fall of aoand thought. He ably defended the republican administration, successfully proving that while it might be true the party had done some things which were wrong, these were error# of the head and not of the heart. The republican party ia a party of the people. And this government is one of the people—not merely a onion of states. After the dope of Mr. Thompaon’a address the Club adjourned until Saturday evening, August I2tb, at which time'an address will be made by Hon. R. S. Dwiggins an! probably other speakers of Ability,
