A Mean Plot.
A city railway car coming down town yesterday contained five men, a young lady and a stout woman with a market basket and a stub nose. A voice suddenly called out; “Blaßt my bones, but its blasted hot!” No one seemed to know just which passengernpoke, and a man rose up and said: “ I deny that I used those awful expressions.” “So do I,” added another,-and pretty soon all the men had filed a denial, Then the young lady rose up and softly siid : “I hope no one here will for a moment believe that I could make use of sqch language.” All had denied it except the woman with the basket, and all looked at her. She knew she hadn’t said anything, and she saw through the job. Walking to the head of the car she dropped her basket, gave her right shoulder a shake and remarked : «-uoj 1 “ I can blast the head of the man who says I said it was blasted hot!” All the men looked across foe street at a new building, and foe woman picked up her basket, sat down and growled r “I just want to see one of-you fellers wink or grin once!” Five solemn men rode five long blocks with faces as rigid as-Sandusky stone.— Detroit Free Prett. .'■ . • _ i / ,
