Itoceipta at the festival on laat Friday evening were a fraction over $55. ... A respectable crop of peaches is promised to Jasper county horticulturists. A few huckleberries were brought to town on Saturday and sold for 10 cents a quart. Centennial cocks and hens are bought by local boarding house proprietors for >2 per dozen. Early cherries are quito plentiful this season, and are selling for-10 cents a quart in Ibis market. Cornfields of this county are in bad condition. They are baokward, weedy, and too wet to work. The charge for announcements of candidates for political nominations, in those columns, is regulated by the amount of space occupied. Emmet Kaunal’s ice cream parlor, in room over his drug store, is the place to take your lady, if you want to troat her to a dish of delicious cream. A commendablo spirit of cleanliness is being manifested this season at the court house, and a number of the public offices have been papered and calciminod. Kannal’sice cream parlor is always clean and tidy, and on* youngfriend, Billy Mosb, is ever ready and willing to dish up cream to customers. Billy seems to understand his “biz.” Give him a call.
Thanks are returned Mrs. A.. Seward for acceptable articles of garden truck, MrsSimon Phillips for a basket of cherries, and Mrs. Samuel Lockridge, of Milroy township, for a pail of fine gooseberries. That, platform dance which is to bo held at Rensselaer on tho 4th of July is no part of the regular celebration programme, but an entirely outside affair with which the committee of arrangements have nothing to do. An error crept into the premium list of the fair, which was published last week. In "Division N, Horses for Speed,” each purse read “mTlebeats, 3 in 4, in harness. ” which should have read, mile heats, 3 in 5, in harness. New .stock for 4th of July just received. An adjourned term of tho Jasper circuit court is In session this week. Judge Ward of the LaFavette Superior bench is presiding. The session will be occupied chiefly upon the cases of appeal from assessments of the Jasper County Ditching Association.
