Rensselaer Union, Volume 7, Number 52, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 16 September 1875 — Francesville Correspondence. [ARTICLE]
Francesville Correspondence.
Editors Union: —As we have no newspaper of our own to chronicle matters of either general or special interest to this place, we deem it good policy to avail ourselves of the courtesy always shown by the proprietors of the Rensselaer Union, whose columns are invariably read with interest, and fetich the eyes ot as many readers, perhaps, as paper in the State. It is rapidly approaching Fair time. The interest in our Fair belongs not alone to Francesville and its immediate vicinity, but exists in the four connected counties of Jasper, Pulaski, White and Starke. The part that the inhahitants of Jasper county have ever taken sipce the organization of the Prairie Farmors’ Agricultural Society has not been small; White county people have contributed largely to its exhibitions; Starke, though not so conveniently located nor so nearly associated, has manifested a commendable interest in its success. Pulaski county, or the western portion of
j it, feels all the interest that such a beneficial Institution commands, and as it has dune in the past so in the futnre will it work earnestly for the success of this enterprise People are looking forward to the Fair of 1875 in anticipation that it will be the most complete ever held in this part of Indiana. No effort is being spared by the Management to render it interesting, instructive and valuable to all. The stock show will immeasurably surpass anything in the past. Stalls and other conveniences are being added to the grounds, and all necessary repairs are being made to buildings. The officers, stockholders, and nearly everybody else here are talking Fair all the time. Airangements have been made for half fare transportation, both of passengers and stock, over the L., N. A. & C. Ry., and is being duly advertised by the company; so it iu«jr be seen how reasonable it is to anticipate more than a usually large attendance,* together with an interesting time. With liberal premiums, judicious management, intelligent officers, enterprising patrons, excellent grounds, and so much wofk being done, there can be little danger of any visitor going away disappointed. This, as more than intimated above, is not exclusively a Pulaski county enterprise; but it is sustained by the inhabitants of the four counties mentioned. The stock owned by citizens of Jasptr makes it a matter intimately connected with the material welfare of your own county and renders it an interesting subject to your patrons and readers. We expect that you will renew and increase the obligations felt by the Fair people to The Union by arousing a deeper interest in the matter in your part of the district. Be assured that the officers are striving with great energy to render the coming exhibition a grand and creditable display of the industries and productions of this region of country. There is no doubt that every one who attends will be amply repaid for his time and money. While they are coming let each one remember to bring some article for exhibition, thereby adding to the excellence, magnitude and variety of the -display. As an extra stimulus in this direction those who have the management of the Fair decided not to charge for any article exhibited, whether entered to contest for
premiums or not.
NOEL.
