After briefly stfilingjhe object of the meeting, the chairman offered the following resolutions. which, after being discussed, were adopted: Whereas, The settlers of this region are laboring under many privations incident to most newly settled regions; and Whereas, There appears to be a disposition on the part of some individuals to monopolize the pasture land, and some have suffered materially in the loss of property by the rapacity of some and the neglect of others; and Whereas, The lands of non-resi-dents are being enhanced in value by the improvements of resident citizens; therefore Resolved, That we request all persons interested to use discretion so that they may not trespass on the rigiits of those who have borne the heat and burden of the day. Resolved, That it is supremely selfish and mean to overrun with foreign cattle our pasture and mowing lands. Resolved, That we are opposed to having cattle brought here from the adjoining States of Illinois and Michigan for the purpose of being herded. Resolved, That we approve the course adopted by our fellow-citizens of Keener township on this matter, aud as neighbors we of this community not only approve their sentiments but also tender our hearty and timely admonition to all concerned. Resolved, That we will be united in promoting the equitable rights and privileges ,of one another in this vicinity. Resolved , That we censure agents for selling “.pasture permits” on nonresident lands in this vicinity to-per-sons living in Illinois and other States.
