The public schools of Remington closed last Friday Rev. Mr. Hendryx’s residence rapidly approaches completion.. .Receipts at a recent Fair of the Ladies’ Union Sewing Society amounted to about $100....Ge0. Heileg, baker, has gone to Logansport to make his home Kendall & Rawlings is the name of a new firm that has recently launched into business in Remington.... Some person accidentally or intentionally shot a bullet through the front window of Church & Lyon’s dry goods store, about 7 o’clock Tuesday evening of last week. James Frasier, H. C. Goldsberry and several other persons were in the store at the time, and Frazier, who was standing near the stove, says he distinctly heard the bullet whiz as it passed in close proximity to his head. No idea has been formed as to who fired the shot. It must have been done by carelessness, or with intention of severing the mortal coil of some fellow within....At a meeting of the Board of Directors of theßemington Agricultural Society March 20th, a committee was appointed to employ a surveyor, plat ground, clear it up, locate buildings, and perform other work that may be required to complete the Fair Grounds. B. M. Butler and D. H. Patton were appointed to solicit subscriptions to stock.... The temperance meeting last Sabbath resulted in the organization of a stock company, SIO,OOO being subscribed. The assessment on stock cannot exceed two and onehalf per cent, per annum, unless by a majority vote of stockholders. The fund created by this organization is to be used in prosecuting liquor sellers for all violations of the law. Messrs. S. A. Morgan, O. B. Mclntire, B. M. Butler, S. M. Black, W. B. Hendryx and G.
