From the Remington Record.
The corn trade is not quite so lively as it was two weeks ago, yet several hundred bushels are brought in daily... .Mclntire & Shaw have purchased the Nevada House property. We understand it is their intention to build a substantial business house on this corner, after movingthe hotel building... .Frost has penetrated the earth to the depth of five feet... .Eighteen persons were recently initiated and organized a Lodge of Knights of Pythias at Remington, the officers of which are as follows: Pl C., W. H. Goldsbury; C. C., W. H. Coover; V. C., D. 11. Patton; Prelate, H. D. 11. Coover; K. R. & S., Al. Kitt; M. E., J. K. Shaw; M. F., C. W. Hartley; M. A., M. G. Traugh; I. G., Frank Morgan; O. G., G. F. Stiffler Baliff Robinson, from Rensselaer, dropped into our town Monday evening with a batch of subpoenas and v entries in his pocket, and next morning bright and early was down on the citizens, like a hen on a June bug, and gobbled all the grand jury men and witnesses he wanted, before the alarm was raised. If there is anything that will drive the iron into the soul of the average Remingtonian it is to be compelled to go to Rensselaer, unless it is to defeat a railroad appropriation The Remington Union Agricultural Association has purchased thirty acres of land from Mr. William Jordan at a cost of two thousand dollars. We congratulate the Association on its selection. The ground is just a mile north of the railroad, on the range line road; lays well, and includes twelve acres of beautitul grove, which will afford ample shade for all. There is room for a half-mile track outside of the grove, and also for sheds for stock. It has all the natural advantages it was possible to crowd on thirty acres of land, and there is nothing to prevent its being made the handsomest fair ground in Northern Indiana, at a comparatively small outlay. The fair ie now an assured tact. ยป
