Love’s Young Dream.

. This . week was a rather exciting one, at least for one of our young men in this town and an honest fanner and stockraiser living between four and five miles from here. Out of respect to the panies we shall not mention any names, but will only state ths facts of the case. This young man is very deeply in love with the farmer’s daughter and his love is returned, but the father, ae is generally the case, is opposed to the young lover, and threatened some time ago that he would shoot the young ipan if he ever came near the house again. The wrath of the father could not influence the love of his daughter .award the young man, and, as love knows no fear, the two fond hearts often met each other during the absence of the father, and it was finally resolved to elope and the time set was Christmas Eve. At ten o’clock the young man was in waiting for his sweetheart, about a quarter of a mile from her home, with a top-buggy and two sound horses from one of our livery stables in this tow-n. When the clock struck ten the young lady passed out at the back door and started to meet her dear W . But, alas! the best-laid plans often fail, and so in this case. The father somehow knew- of the plot or suspected and he watched every movement of his daughter. When she left the house he followed her a distance and came to the buggy where his daughter was about to get in.' It was not long before the young lady was back n the house again, and an observer could have heard the father exclaim, with a beating arm, such exclamations as: “ Now, I’ll fix you, you worthless loafer.” The young man soon afterward brought the horses back in a terrible foam and it looked as though he had been driving pretty fast. His face was tied up in a handkerchief, and he complained of the toothache to the boys in the stable, and kept cursing his bad luck and intended father-in-law. We have seen the young man since and he don’t look in a mood to try the thing over again.— PteaZz’a ——■
