Remington claims to have had shade 101° hot Wednesday of last week. Tiie Masonic lodge will occupy Butler’s new building (second story) when it is finished. •Hon. James Buchanan, of Indianapolis, is announced to deliver the Fourth of July oration at Remington. The ladies of the Christian church assembled in Downing’s barn Wednesday evening of laßt week and gave a festival, the proceeds of which amounted to $l4O. Downing’s hay press barn is now called Houndayaga Wigwam for short and they are going to have a musical festival, literary entertainment and art,exhibition therein on the evening of July 4th. Dr. J. 11. Loughridge, of Rensselaer, assisted by Drs. Patton and Hood, of this place, performed a very nice surgical operation last week Wednesday. The wife of one of our citizens has been sick nearly two years, gradually sinking until the above operation (the removal of a tumor weighing about six ounces) was performed, since which time she has been improving rapidly.
