Our Railroad Prospects.

The prospects for an early completion of a railroad through Lowell are brighter than ever. By the terms of the contract between the C. & S. A. R. R. and the I. D & C. R. R. work must be commenced before the first of July next. Wo hear that work will be commenced in this county between Lowell and Dyer next Monday. Mr. Zimmerman. Chief Engineer, arrived here Thursday evening, and yesterday, in company with Mr. M. A. Halstead, passed over the *route between this place and Dyer.— Just where ground will be first broken we know not, but perhaps between here and Cedar Lake. It now looks as though the company would make good their proposition to run the “iron horse” into Lowell by the first j>f January, 1875. If the people properly exert themselves, such will be the case. Tbe company ask subscriptions in good faith, and they only demand what con be done.— Lowell Star.
