Railroad Meetings in Nenton County.
At a meeting of the citizens of Beaver township, Newton county, Indiana, held at Morocco August 20th, 1871, for the purpose of" devising measures to secure the location of the Fort Wayne & pacific Railroad through the center of Newton county, John Smart was called to tho Chair and M. L. Iluinston chosen Secretary. I. M. Stackhouse, Secretary of tho Ft, W. tt P., explained the prospects of the road and wliat the Company expected of the people of Newton county—that they raise $56,000 and secure tho right of ‘ way through the county. On motion a committee of five, consisting of Dr. M. L. Iluinston, Capt. Ash, D. M. Pulver, John Smart and Dan. Graves, was appointed to solicit subscriptions. The moeting was well attended and good feeling prevailed. The people expressed a determination to raise tho required amount to socurc- the road. Adjourned to meet at the Bolt School House iu Jackson township on the 30 th in A. August 30th, the citizens of Jackon township, Newton county, met at the Bolt school house, W. W. Wishard was called to tho Chair, and S. N. Caldwell elected Secretary. The following resolution was passed: JResolucd, That this township will raise the necessary local aid to socijre the Ft. Wayne & Pacific R. R. througlfthe center of the county, on the most practicable routo to Morocco. Executive Committe, G. W. Has kcll, G. W. Clark, T. T. McGannon, Win. Harris, J. D, Spohr.
