, KiCMrXGTO.Y, JxD., " i February Gth, IS7I. Editors Union: —Yesterday was a groat day in Remington. Not withstanding the inclemency of the weather the now church was crowded with those desiring to wi - ness its dedication. E\s?n the gallery was filled. Of the ministers present, Rev. Thomas Bowman, 1). I)., of the Indiana Asburv University, delivered the morning sermon, iuid Rev. Dr. Reed, of Lafayette, Presiding Elder Hull and our local preacher, Rev. Mr. Gobm, assisted in the exercises. All were delighted witli the se;mon preached by,Dr. Bowman, as the sequel tells. When I heard the Doctor remark at, the close of his sqpnon that the Church was in debt some ss,ooo, I thought they would never raise the amount from the congregation, but what was my surprise when it was announced a few minutes after that the subscriptions there taken, together with the plate collections footed "up the snug amount of *3,010. The best of feeling prevailed throughout the services which were of lour hours’ and twenty minutes’ duration. In the evening Dr. Reed preached to a full litmse and after his*sermon the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper was partaken of by a large number of persons. Rev. Mr. Gojbin is conducting a series of meetings this week. At the meeting this evening several persons went forward for prayers—enough to show there is great encouragement to go on with the good work. I send herewith the first chapter in the history of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Remington which title pastor has been kind ! enough to favor mo with. I will j endeavor to posted with reference to this, meeting which promises fair for favorable reslilts. Yours with. rc-pc‘et, 1 L.
