Marlon Township Convention.

Pursuant to notice the republican voters of Marion township met in convention at the Court House, Saturday afternoon immediately after the county delegate convention had adjourned." Upon motion S. P. Thompson was made chairman and Horace E. James, secretary. The chairman announced the business to be 1. To select a township committee consisting of one member from each school district, one from each ward in the town of Rensselaer, and one for those living outside the corporation limits, but attached to the town for school purposes. 2. To consider the propriety of nominating a township ticket, and it thought advisable, to make such nominations. 3. To present the prize flag to the school district having t|ic largest and best ordered delegation in procession at tho grand rally on the 17th instant. On motion proceeded to the selection of a township committee which resulted as follows: SCHOOL DISTRICTS. No. I—Jesse Greenfield. No. 2—George Burk. No. 3—John M. Gwinn. No. 4—Beth Cox. No. S—II. C. Bruce. No. 6—S. C, Hammond. No. 7 —Berry Paris. No. B—lra M. Trussell. TOWN OF RENSSELAER. Ist Ward—John Coen. 2d Ward—Thomas Boroughs. 3d Ward—John W. Coats. 4th Ward—Wm. 'Warren. sth Ward—Joseph H. Willey. And Joseph Robinson for those outside of Rensselaer, but attached to the school district. D. T. Halstead was elected chairman of the township committee and Horace E. James, secretary. On motion proceeded to the nomination o’s township officers which resulted as follows: Trustee—D. T. Halstead. a Robinson, Jas. A. Burnham. Assessor—John Thompson. Constables—C. P. Wright, Erastus Peacock, Wm. Warren. Mr. John Thompson presented the flag to School District No. 5 in a neat little speech of about five minutes duration. The flag was received on behalf of the district by Mr. 11. C. Bruce who accompanied its reception with a short and appropriate address that was frequently applauded. On motion of L. L. Daugherty it was requested that these proceedings be published in theRENSSELAEB Union. Adjourned.
