Republican County Convention.

The delegates selected on the 28th of May last met in convention in the Court House last Saturday to nominate a candidate for county treasurer to fill the vacancy on the republican ticket caused by the death of Thomas Lainborn, of Carpenter township. The candidates before the convention were N. W. Hopkins, John Thompson, W. H. Martin, of Marion township; G. A- Burkett, Elias Watts, of Carpenter; Henry I. Adatns, of Jordan; L»W. Henkle,. of Barkley. First ballot resulted ns follows: Hopkins, 1; Thompson, 1; Watts, 2; Burkett, 0; Adams, 8; Martin, 10; Henkle, 11. Second ballot—Adams, 9; Ilcnkle, 12; Martin, 17. , Third ballot—Martin, 18; Ilenkle, 10.
