BUCHU. (From Dispensatory of United States.] Diosma Crenata-Buchu Leaves. • 4 Properties.—Their odor is strong, diffusive, and somewhat aromatic, their taste bitterish, and analogous to mint. Medical Propbstin ann Uses.—Bnehu leaves arc gently stimulant, with a peculiar tendency to the -Uiinary Organa. They are given in complaints of the Urinary Organs, such as Gravel, Chronic Catarrh of the Bladder, Morbid Irritation ot the Bladder and Urethra, Disease of the Prostate Gland, and Retention or Incontinence of Urine, from a loss of tone in the parts concerned in its evacuation.
