Republican County Convention.

Pursuant to’ call of central committee, the delegates from the several townships met at the Court House in Rensselaer, Saturday, June 4th, 1870, and organized, calling Dr. Jajnes Ritchey to the chair. On motion Geo. W. Hascall was chosen secretary. Of the fifty-one delegates entitled to seals in the convention, fifty were present—Wheatfield not being represented. Convention proceeded to ballot for nominees. M. L. Spitler was nominated for Clerk by acclamation. F. W Babcock was nominated for Auditor on the first ballot, having received a majority of all the votes cast, over D. T. Halstead, L, W. Henkle, and G. B. Clark, the other candidates. For Treasurer the names of Dr. W. 11. Martin, Thos. Lamborn, G. A. Burkett and Charles Platt were presented and an the second ballot Thos. Lamborn having received a majority of the votes was declared the nominee. H. W. Wood was nominated, by acclamation, for Recorder, as also were A. J. Yeoman for Sheriff, Norman Warner for Coroner, Samuel McCullough for Commissioner from Ist District, and W. K. Parkisim, Commissioner from 2d district Jared Benjamin and W. B. Price, the nominees for Commissioner from the 3d district, were balloted upon and Benjamin nominated. No nomination was made for Surveyor. e On motionthe nominations were declared unanimous. No further busimfes coming before the convention, it was then adjourned.
