' vOnions sell from the wagons on our streets at 75 cents per bushel. Ileidleberger hps cider to sejl at 25 cents a gallon. Apples sell on our streets at from 60 to (J 5 cents; good whiter fruit is worth more. A larger amount of wheat has been sown this fall in Jasper county than ever before. The Methodist Quarterly Meeting will bo commenced in Rensselaer next Saturday, by a sermon at 2 o’clock P.M. Rev. Mr. Hull, the Presiding Elder, is expected.

Mr. David H. Yeoman has our thanks for Indianapolis paper of 2d hist., containing an account of the terrible accident at the State Fair. On the 30th of September, Mr. Samuel M. Mitchel and Miss Isabel Record, both of Gillnrn township, were married in the Dunlap House, Rensselaer, by Justice S. I*. Howard. Rev. Mr. Fallback, of Sturgis, Michigan, is expected to commence n series of lectures iu Rensselaer next Fridaypiight. Subject, Spiritualism And Spiritual Philosophy. The public are invited. The surveyors employed by the Indianapolis, Delphi & Chicago Railroad company arc within sight •of town, aud Judge Secretary of the company, and J. 31. Ridenour, the President of the company are expected to address the people at tho court house this evening. Judge Schennerhoru called on ns yesterday. In conversation with numbers of our citizens, both Mr. Ridenour and Judge Schermerhorn expressed themselves confident of tbn success of the enterprise. White county votes upon the proposition of a tax of one per cent, next Tuesday; two townships in Lake county vote on a similar proposition <ni the 25th, ami tho city of Indianapolis lias uu election upon $75,000 called for the 18th instant, to aid the construction of the road. Petit also does a little business iu the way of pipes, cigar hohlers, gentlemen’s pltper collars, neck ties, line soap*, stationery, combs, perfumery, etc. .All (lie fashionable ladies about town have their hair droased by Petit, the Barber. Messrs. Stackhoqsp it Bro., are fitting up their stppp with reference to the wijUfv trade. They will move thf workshop to tho rear of the if iarfefl building and throw the Jrojit tynd puddle rooms together for the storage and display of cabinet furniture, a largo stock of which they intend to’ keep constantly on hand. A large new assortment of cooking and parlor stoves of the latest improved patterns can bo seen at their warerooms. C. W. Hi nkle, one of the most popular men in the county, is doing a first rate business in the grocery line, at his new establishment in the famous “Shanghaißuilding,” in fact he informs us that his patronage far exceeds his most sanguine expectations. The reason of this is not to he ascribed to. the popularity of the dealer, but more particularly to these facts: Ist. His wares arc all fresh and new. t 2d. Mr. Ilenkle will please accept our thanks for six or eight packages of tea, which we can prouounco of good quality, having tried it ourselves.

From personal inspection we can say that one of the largest stocks of ready made clothing in the city of Rensselaer is at A. Leopold’s establishment, corner of Washington and Vanßenssclacr streets, opposite McCoy & Thompson's Bank. While visiting there a day or two since we saw some of the most comfortable looking overcoats to bo found anywhere. His prices are very reasonable. lie is selling good substantial appearing business suits at prices ranging from $lO to $25. He has also a large assortment of boots and shoes selected with special reference to the wants of the people he trades with. Large stacks of sheetings are piled on the counters, the shelves are filled with prints, delaines, factory aud domestic flannels, of fast color, fine and heavy texture, and reasonable prices. We have not room to more than barely mention his hats, caps, underclothing, dross-trimmings &c., Ac., but suggest that persons about to purchase winter clothing call and examine his display of goods and learn his prices. A stock of good family groceries, not to be excelled in quality, kept to accommodate his customers.
