Pr spects of our Railroad.

Tie voteca»t in Marion county,’ last Monday, upon the proposition i us making a county donation of j ¥4-'>U,oOU to assist in building the! proposed lnd an tpolis, Delphi an ! Chicago railroad, resulted in a ma- \ j pity against the proposition. This will probably defeat the* enterprise, for the present, at least. There‘are three counties yet to vote upon the tj ;estion of a tax in? its favor, D tone, White and Lake. Doone county is so tu*ar Indianapolis, and tin- benefits are so indirect, that the probabilities arc the proposition h ill he defeated by a decided ma- > stv. In White county, the uppos.iiou has been very strong aud the r-stiil in Marion will have the ten<l ncy to strengthen it still more, so ilia, the chances are very much against it there, in fact defeat is almost a certainty. Lake county has not yet ordered an election, and j there is no interest manifested in the subject. It is scarcely mentioned at all, aud but few people it:; re have even heard of it. To sum up, the prospects, at the ' n sent lime, for the early completi »i of the work, arc decidedly uniat orable. In short we believe the project is not feasible for several years, if ever.
