During the storm of yesterday the dwelling of Mr. Charles Phoads half a mile east of Rensselaer, was blown from its Tlmlcrpinning a distance of six or eight feet, springing the frame, loosening flooring and siding and leaving it standing at an angle of about forty-live degrees to the perpendicular. When the house was struck by the storm, the only inmate was Miss Caddie Rhoades a young lady about, sixteen years of age, who started to run over to a neighbor’s house for protection. In attempting to cross a ditch over which some boards were laid loosely lor afoot crossing, she .made a miss-step and fell into the water which was perhaps sixteen or eighteen indies deep, where being overcome with fright slie came near drowning. When found: she was-completely exhausted, and remained unconscious until a late hour last evening. The house was unfinished, balloon framed and rested on blocks three feet high. This morning a number of gentlemen went up from town to repair the building.
